LANDGASTHOF – Our Royal and Imperial 'Post Office' pub

LANDGASTHOF – Our Royal and Imperial
‘Post Office’ pub

A pub on the lake always has something special about it. The Landgasthof Royal and Imperial ‘Post Office’ pub is a jewel from the imperial era, lovingly cared for and preserved by the Eichhorn family.

In the town of Weyregg on Lake Attersee, the old postal station stubbornly attempts to transcend its own history. It aims to become a concentrated, imperial-yellow-coloured dose of history – such that even members of the Habsburg family alive today are moved by what they see. Somehow, the sideburns on innkeeper Georg Eichhorn start to grow bigger and bigger, and all of a sudden it happens – a small royal and imperial miracle takes place. Suddenly, the lovingly presented collectibles are no longer decoration, but reality – an island of yesterday in the banal sea of the present.
